Milan – a city with everything to offer: culture; fashion; art and food and, as you know, they all happen to be my most favourite things. So I will start with a little culture and recommend the Duomo di Milano - a lace like exterior and simply incredible interior. The perfect place to sit and think. However, if you feel a bit more touristy then the Arco della Pace should be on your satnav and here’s some gossip; the horses are positioned to show their didietros- or as I have learned to say in Malta, their patatas :)
Milan is home to some of the biggest names in fashion: Valentino, Versace, Prada and, my new favourite, MaxMara are all Milanese and the joy of wandering around their ateliers or even window shopping before an Aperitivo is a lovely way to spend time in Milan.
You know it’s also the home of Campari? There is so much to see and do in Milan, you could spend a long weekend exploring the different areas and still not see it all.
Staying in the NH Hotel Milano Congress, which is part of the biggest conference centre in Milan, was perfect me on this trip. Fully refurbished in 2015, the rooms are beautifully light and airy with comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms.
Late checkout on Sunday gives you a great opportunity for a lie in, a sumptuous breakfast and a quick trip back to the city centre for last minute shopping, culture and eating as it is only 4 stops from the city centre.
The hotel itself has a great restaurant and such friendly and helpful staff; it was a pleasure to stay there.
I loved Milan and I will be back.
