Marriott Hotel and Spa – heaven is in Balluta Bay

September is always a gorgeous month; it feels like everything is starting again and a new season is beginning. So I am delighted to share my latest find with you! Malta Marriott Hotel and Spa , Balluta Bay, St Julian’s, is a totally delightful and delicious experience. I am still on Cloud 9 after a long weekend of luxury and style.

The hotel mixes old with new beautifully. Located opposite the promenade and the beach, it has fabulous views from every direction. From the classic Maltese Villa facade entrance and stone balconies to the truly sumptuous and deluxe hotel rising behind, it is total bliss the whole way.

A cool colour palette of grey, ecru and duck egg with pops of Mediterranean blue and the most amazing carpets is just beautiful. Whether you are on business or holiday, everywhere in the Malta Marriott feels perfect.

The attention to detail, the quality of the finishes and the high level of service are all totally in keeping with the Marriott brand; however, the lovely sense of Maltese warmth and hospitality is very evident.

From the beautiful stained glass and lighting features, to the bespoke ceramics in the restaurant, everything has been carefully thought out and lovingly delivered.

It was hard to leave all the loveliness and luxury and go to bed, but it was definitely worth it for the rooms. We all know how important a comfortable bed and beautiful linen is for a proper night’s sleep. The Malta Marriott has elevated sleeping well into an art form.

The rooms are cool and spacious with a mellow colour scheme. Again, the attention to detail - from the lighting, window treatments, temperature control and huge doors leading to the balcony - is just perfectly executed and delivered.

And so the food – which is just world class. Atrio offers a stunningly good breakfast which will set you up for the day. If lunch is your thing, I recommend the Atrio Asian-fusion menu with a glass of something from the extensive wine list.

The cocktails are also excellent so make sure you try them, whether at the very cool bar, the terrace or in the restaurants.

Dinner is out of this world in Taro at the Villa and they can offer a sommelier to help you pair your wines with your food for a truly exclusive evening.

As always, my love for good food and incredibly good wine has to be balanced with my need to fit into my clothes!

The Malta Marriott not only has a ‘fitness center’ which offers free classes to guests, but also the beautiful Myoka Spa, a gorgeous indoor pool and a very glamourous pool deck and rooftop pool. So no excuses but, equally, you will feel no guilt at loving all the pampering and indulgence.

Whatever your reason to be in Malta, from work to pleasure to living here, you must go to the Malta Marriott at least once (but ideally 100 times) as this is more than an experience, it’s a destination.
